2000
Well, here
we are in the year 2000, no problems up here with power or anything
else. Loved the celebration in Paris and Boise. New York did it's
thing but with more hoopla. But the thing I loved about this year
was the great way we all watched each other all around the world
celebrate a new year, each in their own way! I hope all future
years will continue to be shared, after all we are all one world.
We just live in multiple time zones!!
I went to
see my doctor Friday. He just moved into a new building, newly
varnished, new paint, new carpet, good formalgahide(sp) glues
in the wood, etc. Knowing this I asked before going, if the fumes
were bad, and was told that the air handling system was turned
on Hi and no fumes were noticeable. I walked in signed the sign
in sheet and all of a sudden, the fumes couldn't be ignored, I
couldn't breathe. The receptionists and other office crew kept
asking me what was wrong and I didn't have enough air to answer.
Finally someone helped me into the entryway and had me sit on
a wheelchair. At this time my husband came in and told them to
move me outside because the fumes there were as bad as inside.
I sat on the wheelchair next to a snow bank until the doctor came
out. (I had a mask that did help warm and moisten the air I breathed,
but it does no good for fumes) During most of the time I just
kept my eyes closed and did pursed lip breathing, to keep myself
together. When they checked me later in the ER I had Hi stats,
because I had been doing the breathing exercises while I attempted
to clear the fumes out of my lungs, and catch my breath. The Doctor
said I don't have to come back to see him until summer, by then
the fumes should be gone. Spring is finally here, as soon as the
ground dries I can get outside and get some exercise!!
2000 the Year of the Fires
What a joke! The ground dried out
and the forest caught fire. I only got about 2 weeks outside before the fires started.
The first fire started just north of my home, about 25 miles. Also near where this picture was taken. Then more and with more and more following. Dry lighting is normal we have it every year. When they thinned the forest, it did little harm, but no logging at all, has been done on forest lands has in this area for a long long time. This and other valleys were full of the smoke that came from the fires, it traveles for miles.
If you get high enough in some areas there is no smoke but the altitude is a little more than I want to try. The valleys like where I live fill up with smoke fast. The smoke just settles down into the valley like a dense fog bank.
The wild life is going to be short of food this year. Here is a picture of deer leaving the fire area.
This picture is from the border area of Idaho and Montana.
The fire is still burning in November, 2000. It is
smoldering. It has a life of it's own that it doesn't want to give up.
Hi! Thanks for visiting!
